A Call to Young Artists: Don't Give It Away for Free

Cartoonist and writer Tim Kreider makes a hilarious pitch perfect plea in the NYT's Sunday Review: Slaves of the Internet, Unite!   Yes, Mr. Kreider, agreed! When did "art" become "content" sandwiched in between banner ads? Why are artists - writers, musicians, filmmakers, photographers - suppose to give it away for free? Exposure doesn't pay the bills. And at his age, Mr. Kreider doesn't think it is cute anymore to be sleeping on his 20-something futon. He wants his art to pay for a 40-something posturepedic bed!
