The National Film Board of Canada produced with director Katerina Cizek the interactive documentary project OUT MY WINDOW, an exploratory peek inside the homes and lives of global highrise apartment dwellers. You can learn about hijacked buildings in South Africa, where building managers are murdered and replaced by rogue landlords who collect rent, fix nothing and cut off electricity; or about an afterlife address in a skyscraper cemetery in China. The entire project features 49 stories from 13 cities, told in 13 languages. And if that is not enough multimedia exploration, you can watch the interactive video documentary A Short History of the Highrisealso sponsored by the NFB along with The New York Times, that explores the history of vertical living and issues of social equality in our increasingly urbanized world.
