SPOILED is an interactive motion graphic story that explores the oil resource curse. Users move through 3D cinematic landscapes that are swiped, tilted and interactively played on mobile or VR devices. SPOILED has been presented at Power to the Pixel, the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, and the Missoula Art Museum.

Explore the shantytown of Satanville on the outskirts of of an oil drilling complex in the deserts of Chad, Africa.

SPOILED travels to communities around the globe that suffer from the "oil resource curse", a phenomenon whereby countries that are rich in oil tend to grow more poor and more violent. SPOILED looks at how the oil industry operates around the globe in conjunction with host governments and bears account to the social injustices and environmental disasters that occur globally. Nigeria, for example, struck oil in 70s and has been a major supplier to the US and Europe. Yet since then there has been a rise in violence, gangsterism, economic inequality, and oil spills equivalent to the Exxon-Valdez spill every year for the past 50 years. This interactive story reveals how the fossil fuel economy destroy people and places, and connects the dots between ourselves and others as we all tap into the network of oil pipelines.
